Ginetta Heads To COTA For Trans Am Championship
November 2, 2017
Ginetta Development Driver Charlie Robertson will showcase the Ginetta G55 GT4 in the Trans Am Championship event at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) this coming weekend. He will be joining Ginetta Young Driver Development racer Parker Chase at the helm.
As part of their role within the Ginetta development team, Chase and Robertson were the logical choice of representative for the brand. The G55 GT4 was invited to join the Trans Am Championship grid for the final events of the 2017 season as consideration is given to its eligibility from 2018 onwards. As an exhibition entry, the event will provide grounds for evaluation and testing to ultimately decide the 2018 classification.
Given their position as an invitational entry, Chase and Robertson will voluntarily start at the back of the field for the race, as to ensure the full-season Trans Am participants are not impacted by their participation. Technical support is being provided by the Ginetta factory in the UK with three engineers flying into the circuit.
Charlie Robertson, Ginetta Development Driver; “It’s great to be showcasing the Ginetta G55 GT4 car to a brand new audience this weekend. The Trans Am Championship ticks all the right boxes for the Ginetta team as we’re looking to explore new avenues for the 2018 season and beyond. Everyone at Ginetta, Performance Motorsports Group and the Chase Racing program would like to thank the Trans Am Championship for their invitation to participate and look forward to the opportunity to show what we could bring to the series in 2018.”
Parker Chase, Ginetta Young Driver Development Programme racer; “I am very happy to get back in the car and at one of my favourite tracks. The goal is to put the Ginetta G55 car through the evaluation process in the Trans Am Championship. Results are not what we are shooting for this weekend, but as a racer, you want nothing more than to show speed and stand on the top step of the podium. This is a terrific opportunity for Ginetta to be included in another high profile North American series and I thank Ginetta and the Trans Am Championship for allowing me to be part of it.”
The showcase was spearheaded by Ginetta’s East Coast distributer Adolpho Rossi. The first event will take place this weekend in Austin, Texas, with the second event running at the famed Daytona International Speedway later this month.
