Trans Am takes advantage of final opportunity for practice at BIR

BRAINERD , Minn. (August 31, 2014) 24 of the 29-car Trans Am entry decided to take to the track one more time for the final practice session in preparation for the 100-mile, 40-lap Trans Am race later this afternoon for Round 8 of the 2014 Trans Am Championship at Brainerd International Raceway. While many drivers elected to simply scrub tires and return to the pits, some did take advantage of the dry conditions to put down some fast times.

Leading them was defending Champion and points leader Doug Peterson, in the No. 87 3Dimensional.com Chevrolet Corvette, with a time of 1:28.595—finally putting down the power he’s well capable of when given a dry track.

Peterson was followed by Amy Ruman, in the No. 24 McNichols Company Chevrolet Corvette, with a time of 1:29.407 and Cliff Ebben, in the No. 36 Stumpf Ford/ McMahon Group Ford Mustang, with a 1:29.924.

In TA2, former Champion Bob Stretch led the class with a time of 1:33.522 behind the wheel of the No. 98 FixRim Mobile Wheel Repair Chevrolet Camaro, followed by Adam Andretti, in the No. 44 Engineered Components Chevrolet Camaro, with a 1:34.104, and Stretch’s teammate Tom Sheehan, in the No. 97 FixRim Mobile Wheel Repair Chevrolet Camaro.

TA3 was led by Jerry Greene, in the No. 93 Ever Greene Jewelry Porsche GT3 Cup, with a time of 1:34.356.

Trans Am will take to the track at Brainerd International Raceway once more this weekend at BIR for Round 8 of the 2014 Trans Am Championship at 4:15 p.m. CDT later this afternoon.
