Trans Am Doubles Down At Brainerd and Road Atlanta To Complete 10 Race 2012 Schedule

 

“Our goal all along was to have a 10-race championship,” said John Clagett, President, Trans Am Race Company. “While we looked at the possibility of adding races at new venues, we also entertained the idea of doubling up races like was done last year at Brainerd.  This is  was a cost efficient way to add additional races without putting a significant hardship on teams with additional travel costs.  

 

“The 10-race championship with four races being conducted at the final two venues should stay interesting to the very end,” added Clagett, “We’re anticipating that the on-track battle will come right down to the season finale.”

 

“Brainerd and Trans Am go hand-in-hand,” said Gary Curtis, Brainerd International Raceway General Manager. “We’re thrilled to be part of the Series’ season ending four-race chase to the championship. It’s a perfect fit for us.”

 

The 2012 season will take the checkered flag at Road Atlanta with rounds 9 and 10 taking place on November 3rd and 4th as part of the SCCA American Road Race of Champions.   

 

“The Atlanta Region of SCCA has been very cooperative,” added Clagett. “The final four is going to be a great way to close the 2012 schedule lending a playoff-like feel to our season end. We had an outstanding entry for Road Atlanta in 2011, the highest of the season. The double header should attract even greater participation.”

 

One additional adjustment has been made to the 2012 schedule with the Road America  race slated for Friday, Aug. 17.
