Top Five Finish at Mid-Ohio Keeps Tomy Drissi Third in Trans Am Standings

·       Tomy Drissi maintained third place in the 2025 Trans Am championship with a fifth place finish at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

·       Drissi ran in podium contention for much of the day until late cautions changed the complexion of the race

·       Drissi’s top five finish allowed him to gain valuable points on second in the championship

2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi and Drissi Motorsports remain third in the Trans Am Series by Pirelli championship after a hard-fought top five finish at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Drissi brought the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Franklin Road Chevrolet Camaro to a fifth-place finish, running in podium contention for much of the race and even closing the gap to second in the standings.

Drissi qualified fifth for Saturday’s race, but after a chaotic start for other cars, he quickly found himself running third. Towards the halfway point of the race, he found himself locked in a battle of past series champions, picking up the pace and holding off defending champion Paul Menard for multiple laps. Initially, Menard slid off track while trying to make the pass, but he would recover and re-make the pass on Drissi later in the race.

In the end, a pair of cautions denied Drissi a return to the podium. The first bunched up the field, shuffling Drissi back to fifth in the closing segment. The second came with just two laps to go, denying Drissi the opportunity to reclaim fourth place. Nonetheless, thanks to the typical attrition rate in a Trans Am race, Drissi would gain 14 points on second in the standings, cutting the gap to 27 to Adam Andretti and setting him up to challenge Andretti and Menard once again at Road America.

“I’m glad we were able to make up some valuable points in Mid-Ohio,” said Drissi. “While I’m disappointed that we couldn’t back up the podium finish we had last year because of the cautions, we had a strong effort otherwise and fast lap pace on par with the leaders. That’s a good sign as we enter the busiest stretch of the season.

“Thank you to all the fans who showed up to watch us race, as well as our great partners at Trench Shoring Company, Motul, and Franklin Road Apparel. We’re ready to do it all again at Road America, and we’re determined to get back on the box!”
