Tomy Drissi Looks Ahead to Trans Am’s Return to Road America

2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi is ready to take on the seventh round of the 2026 Trans Am season at the iconic Road America this weekend. Currently sitting third in TA class points, Drissi, the Drissi Motorsports team, and the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul Chevrolet Camaro have plenty of momentum to bring into the second half of Trans Am’s only back-to-back race weekends of the year.
Drissi enters the second half of the season with three podiums in six starts, collecting more than 80 points in five of six races. He remains 15 points ahead of fourth place coming into the weekend, having finished sixth last weekend against the strongest field of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
With numerous top-five and top-10 finishes over his career, Road America has been one of Drissi’s most consistent tracks on the Trans Am schedule. He enters the weekend with three top five finishes at the track in the past three years, two fifth places in 2023 and 2024 and a career-best fourth place last year after a last-lap pass. He debuted at the track in 1999 with a ninth place run, and it also marked the final race of his 2009 championship-winning season, as he locked up the title with an eighth place finish.
“Road America is going to be a great place for us to finish up back-to-back weekends of Trans Am racing,” said Drissi. “Last year’s finish was as exciting for me behind the wheel as it was for the fans to watch, and I expect more of the same this weekend. The fans are always awesome up there, and I’m looking forward to putting on a show for them!”
Drissi’s weekend at Road America begins on Friday with optional test sessions at 10AM and 3:15PM, with practice at 9:10AM and qualifying at 1:50PM on Saturday. Sunday’s race will go green at 10:05AM for 25 laps or 75 minutes. Tickets remain available, while Racing America will carry free live streaming coverage of practice, qualifying, and the race itself.
