Sheehan Revved Up for Austin and COTA Weekend

Austin, TEXAS - October 1, 2019 - Few would disagree that the Damon Racing team have endured more than their fair share of bad luck this season, with damage to the car caused by track debris among the gremlins to have plagued the No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Ford Mustang this year, but after a well deserved top ten finish the last day at Virginia International Raceway, the New Hampshire based team are very much looking forward to seeing out the season in style. For the 12th and penultimate round of the 2019 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship TA2 Class this weekend, the muscle car wheelmen and teams compete in the slick, prestigious surroundings of Circuit of The Americas outside Austin, Texas as the season is down to just two events left on the calendar in 2019.

After a post race review, a highly credible P7 was the result at VIR for LTK Insulation Technologies driver Tom Sheehan - who finished 5th overall in both the 2017 and 2018 TA2 Class Championships. He and the team will be looking for another top-ten finish as he bids to round off his season on a high. Having switched from running a Chevrolet Camaro in each of the last two seasons to a Ford Mustang supplied by Mike Cope Race Cars - this season has been challenging for all those concerned, but for unlucky reasons. Sheehan and Damon Racing are looking to improve on the P9 at COTA last year as the team heads southwest.

“Last year we had a top five run going to the last corner, got tagged and spun," stated Tom Sheehan. "It was the beginning of a run of foul luck, I am glad its behind us. COTA is a bit jinky some very slow spots - it’s a fun track to race. We are simply out for the best finish we can get. The points standings are not in the picture. I can drive hard, there is no down side."

The TA2 race is scheduled for Sunday, October 6 at 11:05 a.m. at Circuit of The Americas and fans are encouraged to follow along on the timing and scoring boards at gotransam.com or the Race Monitor app from your mobile device.

Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is a grade 1 FIA-specification 3.427-mile motor racing track and the current home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix. The spectator experience at an SVRA event is like no other motorsport. The paddock area is always open to spectators, offering an up-close level of access to cars and drivers. Attendees can check out the garages and see real vintage race cars getting prepped for the track. Racegoers will see why the vintage racing community is one of the most friendly and knowledgeable groups of people in the car world. Additionally, vendors on site offer everything from classic car memorabilia to auto detailing products. Fans can get a bite to eat and enjoy the historic racing backdrop to what always ends up being a fantastic weekend of motorsports.
