Sheehan Climbs Field at Lime Rock Park Amid Torrential Race Day Weather

Lakeville, CONNETICUT, May 28, 2025 - Ironman Tom Sheehan battled hard through torrential rain at Lime Rock Park on May 24 to climb from P23 to P16 in the overall classification of the 2025 CUBE 3 Architecture Trans Am presented by Pirelli TA2 Series race. Tom was competing in the Pro Am Challenge on Memorial Day Weekend where the New Hampshire pilot recorded a best lap of 54.612 at what is effectively his local circuit. Finishing in P6 in class, Tom picked up 80 Championship points. He qualified the distinctive orange No. 97 Vixen Cycle Co. / LTK Insulation Technologies / Cope Racing Ford Mustang in P23 overall and P7 in class in a time of 54.268.
The rapidly changing weather conditions proved a huge challenge to all the drivers. After numerous incidents early on, it wasn’t until Lap 32 that green flag racing resumed - but only for one lap! Racing finally went green again on lap 38 and Tom was able to guide the powerful Mustang home safely on what became a wet hazard ridden circuit.
"It was totally a gut check moment for the Cope Team,” stated Tom Sheehan after the race. “We tore up three cars in practice. The guys battled back and put the cars back in for qualifying. I'm happy for Keith, he is doing fantastic and it's going to be fun watching him battle for the Championship. I'm hungry to get back in a car and drive again. That's racing."
The CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series will next hit the track at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, June 19-22, for the Mid-Ohio SpeedTour. The Mike Cope Racing team will be prepared and ready to embark with a clean slate and a rebound from Lime Rock Park.
