Ruman Ready for Final 5 Rounds

The Trans Am Series Heads South to VIR

TEAM RELEASE Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and the team are looking forward to the final five rounds of the 2016 Championship schedule which starts the southern swing for the series this weekend at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, VA.

Even though Ruman is the points leader in the TA class, the year has not been stellar for her and she knows she has her work cut out for her in the final five rounds.  She has her sights set on getting back to her winning ways and hopes to kick start it this weekend at VIR.  Ruman has podiumed at VIR, but hasn’t added the circuit to her win column yet.

“VIR is an awesome but very challenging track.  It poured rain the entire weekend here last year – and I’m hoping for sunny southern skies so we can put No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette PME engine power to work.  I’m eager to finish out the year strong like we did in 2015 with some wins and bring home Championship number two, but I know it won’t be easy!” explained Ruman.

Ruman finished 5th in last year’s rain soaked race at the exciting iconic 18 turn, 3.27-mile track.  She will be aiming for an overall victory to try and boost her lead of 11 points in the Championship standings. 47 entries are scheduled for Saturday’s races, with 14 competing in the TA class.

The weekend will start off with a promoter test day Thursday September 22nd. One official TA practice and “One Shot” qualifying will take place on Friday September 23rd.  Saturday will feature two Trans Am races – the TA/3/4 at 11:25am followed by the TA2 at 5:05pm, both at 101.37-miles 31-laps – all times listed are ET.  Visit gotransam.com or virnow.com for ticket, full schedule, and all other weekend information.
