Ruman Looking to Rebound at NOLA Trans Am SpeedTour

Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and the team are headed approximately 1,050 miles south from team operations in Ohio for Round 2 of the Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli. The Series will make an appearance at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, LA, where they have only visited the track two times in the past, 2015 and 2016.

Located just 14 miles from the French Quarter of New Orleans, NOLA presents a 2.75-mile, world-class track consisting of 16 turns, with a 5,200-foot straightaway. Ruman is one of only a few TA drivers to have competed at the track in the past; she drove her No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette to victory there in 2015 and captured a second-place finish in 2016. In both seasons Ruman went on to capture back-to-back Trans Am Championships, the first and only female to win a Championship in Trans Am history.

“I’m excited to head back to NOLA. The track was good to me and helped me secure both of my Championships. We really need a good finish after the Sebring disappointment. It’s still very early in the season and there is lots of racing to go, so I’m looking to rebound and have a good finish here and gain some valuable points,” stated Ruman.

Forty-four competitors are entered across all classes, with eight running in Ruman’s TA class. Trans Am is running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) as part of the 2023 SpeedTour. Testing, practices, qualifying, and races will take place Thursday through Sunday. The Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers TA2® Series race will be Saturday, March 11th at 12:25pm followed by the Trans Am TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature race on Sunday at 12:30pm CST, both races are 101.75-miles, 37-laps. Please visit gotransam.com, speedtour.net, svra.com for tickets, schedules, and all other weekend information.

Heading into Round 2, Matthew Brabham leads the TA National class championship with 106 points, followed by Adam Andretti in second – 98, Keith Grant in third – 94, Ken Thwaits in fourth – 88, and Tomy Drissi sits in fifth – with 84 points.
