2024 CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series Champion Rejoins Title-Winning Team with Big Future Role
June 4, 2025 – Nitro Motorsports is proud to announce that former Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series Champion Rafa Matos will return to the team for the 2026 season. After a championship-winning campaign together in 2024, Matos will once again be a central figure in Nitro Motorsports’ growing and multifaceted racing program, which includes a strong presence in the TA2 category and continued expansion into the Toyota development ladder and karting.
Matos’ return marks a continuation of the winning formula that propelled Nitro Motorsports to the top of the TA2 standings in 2024. More than just a driver, Rafa will become an invaluable asset to the team’s overall strategy—both on and off the track—as a leader, mentor, and experienced voice for the next generation of talent.
“Rafa was a key part of our success in 2024, and having him back for 2026 is a massive win for our entire organization,” explained Nitro Motorsports Team Owner Nick Tucker. “He brings unmatched experience, speed, and professionalism, but even more importantly, he’s a mentor to the younger drivers we’re developing through our Toyota program and beyond. He sets the tone for the whole team.”
As Nitro Motorsports continues to build its long-term presence across multiple platforms, Matos’ return reinforces the team’s commitment to pairing elite-level performance with a culture of growth and development. His role will extend beyond the cockpit, offering guidance and technical insight to Nitro’s up-and-coming racers.
