ProFinish Motorsports and Carbaugh Race Engines Takes Podium in Second Trans Am Start at Laguna Seca
October 6, 2026
Independence, Oregon — October 6, 2026 — ProFinishMotorsports and Carbaugh Race Engines closed their Laguna Seca weekend with a third-place podium finish, the team’s second Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli start and the first race effort run together by the two shops.
Young qualified the No. 35 second at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, then fought back to the lead late in the race before an electrical problem forced an early retirement. Even so, the result stood as a podium in only the program’s second series start.
The car showed the speed expected after Portland. Carbaugh Race Engines again put strong horsepower under the hood, and the No. 35 had decent pace through the weekend. The team still wants more turn-in before the next start. “We had incredible Carbaugh power under the hood,” said a spokesman for ProFinish Motorsports. “The car had decent speed, but it needed a bit more turn-in. We’ll have it better when we return.
”For a second race effort, and the first with ProFinishMotorsports/Carbaugh Race Engines working the car together, a qualifying second and a podium was a strong step. The electrical issue cut the run short, but the pace and the result both point the same direction.
ProFinish Motorsports, based in Independence, Oregon, builds and campaigns Trans Am Cup machinery and provides race-car construction, setup, and arrive-and-drive support. Carbaugh Race Engines based near Turner, Oregon builds the power for the No. 35. Together with partners including Chris Evans Inc. and Jefferson Racing, the two Oregon shops are putting a Northwest-built car on the Trans Am grid.
