PAUL FIX THIRD AT HOMESTEAD, SECOND IN POINTS
April 14, 2015

(Team Release) Homestead, FL (April 14, 2015)- Paul Fix and the #4 ClassicTube/Stopflex/CarCoach/Royal Purple/Well-Worth Products Chevrolet Corvette achieved yet another podium result, a second consecutive third place finish, at Homestead-Miami Speedway this past weekend. By doing so, Fix now resides second in the 2015 Trans Am Series championship point standings.
Fix’s third place finishing position was achieved despite unfavorable track conditions and warm temperatures during the event. Car setup and tire management played a role in the outcome.
“Even with the practice session on Saturday and early Sunday, there wasn't enough time to dial in the car for the 100 mile race,” said Fix. “The track surface was very slippery as the race went on especially in the oval.”
With slick track surface conditions and a fast race pace, running consistent lap times was important to maintaining sight of the leaders and advancing on the field. Preserving the tires under high ambient temperatures was necessary.
“Tire management was the key to our success,” offered Fix. “The various extended yellow flag laps helped to cool the tires down which allowed them to last the duration.”
Starting seventh on the grid, Fix methodically worked his way up the running order. As the 45 lap event clicked off laps, Fix seized the opportunities presented to move forward.
“It was a long tough race,” said Fix. “We were fortunate to capitalize on the misfortunes of others. In the final laps we held our position and we're thrilled with a third place finish.”
Offered Fix, “We are currently second in standings after two races. There is plenty of racing still on the schedule to earn the needed points to achieve a championship trophy.”
Fix and the Trans Am Series will next compete at the Foametix 100 at Road Atlanta May 9, 2015, round three of the season. The stop on the schedule is an event Fix is anxious to get to. “I’m looking forward to Road Atlanta, one of the great natural terrain road courses we visit,” said Fix.
