Columbia City, Ind.—Drew Neubauer will be behind the wheel of the Stevens-Miller Racing (SMR) No. 12 Berryman Products, Ford Mustang featuring the amazing “Chemtooler” character this weekend at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. Created by famed ’60s King of the Kustom Kar Kulture Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, the Chemtooler has been a hit since he first appeared in The Trans Am presented by Pirelli four years ago.
Neubauer said, "As a part-time driver in the series, it's an honor to drive the Berryman Ford Mustang for a championship-winning team like SMR! The car’s livery is one of the best in all of motorsport, the fans love it and I can’t wait to send it down the corkscrew! Living in Texas, it's great to have the opportunity to represent Berryman, a Texas-based company that has been a constant industry leader in additives, solvents and lubricants for more than 100 years.
“Joe Stevens and his team make it a seamless transition each time I'm in the car. I’m really looking forward to being back in the TA2 paddock with SMR. Week in and week out, in SMR is one of the best, if not the best teams in all of Trans Am and it’s a pleasure to be a part of the team. The cars are incredibly well prepared and the atmosphere under the awning is fantastic. The team not only makes me feel at home, but my friends and family as well — they do an all-around great job."
Berryman Products Marketing Director Beau Blankenship said, "We are extremely excited to be back at the track and once again seeing first hand all that SMR goes through in a weekend. I’m always impressed how diligent the SMR crew is and how they use our cleaners and lubricants in between each session.
Helping Trans Am and SVRA teams and their businesses — automotive, heavy duty truck, or industrial — has been great for us. Trans Am’s TA2 is the only all-American professional road racing series out there and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”
SMR Team owner Joe Stevens said, “It’s great to have Drew and Beau with us at Laguna. Beau and Berryman Products, have partnered with my team for the last four years. We debuted the new Chemtooler livery at Charlotte on the Mustang that Mike Skeen drove to the championship last year. The car is bad fast and I know Drew will really enjoy driving it to its limits.
“It’s so good to have Beau back in the paddock. He’s become a good friend of the team and his family’s products are second to none. One of their line’s hidden gems is their ‘Professional Total Lube’ penetrating oil. I tell you, this is the good stuff – and way better than what comes in the famous blue and yellow can. It’s 50-state legal and a little squirt is all you need to loosen a rusted nut or lube a bolt. It fights corrosion and has outstanding lubrication properties and we use it when we assemble just about everything on the car.”
Blankenship said, “It’s so nice to be out and about after a year of COVID. Being trackside we can connect with customers in a way that web meetings simply can’t. We love visiting with the teams and being a part of Trans Am and the Speed Tour. Not to mention I love the roar of the American V8s in TA2.”
This weekend’s Trans Am presented by Pirelli TA2 events from Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca will be live streamed on the Trans Am app with qualifying on Friday at 4:30 pm PST and the feature race on Saturday at 1:10 pm PST.
