Kaylee Bryson Dominates in Career-First Trans Am Win at NOLA Motorsports Park
April 14, 2024
Avondale, LA In just her fourth start in a Trans Am series event, Kaylee Bryson won the SGT class in stunning fashion Saturday afternoon at NOLA Motorsports Park. The defending USAC Silver Crown Rookie of the Year led every lap from the pole and crossed the finish line with a 29 second lead in her #02 Logical Systems / Sam Pierce Chevrolet Corvette. The maximum points paying performance elevated her to second place in the Trans Am SGT class championship points battle – a mere eight points behind Richard Forsythe.
“This is my first time on the podium,” said Bryson from the top step. “I’m glad to get my first win today for my team; they've worked so hard. There's a whole army that goes into this, making this possible, and I'm so grateful for them. The car was on rails all weekend, and I'm super happy to come out here and get first. I'm thankful that everybody drives clean. It was a really fun time out there. Thank you, guys.”
Bryson is no stranger to NOLA’s victory lane this season, as four weeks ago she posted two wins and two second place finishes in the Super Unlimited class piloting Roger Johnson’s Lightening Crown (former USAC Gold Crown) machine during the National Auto Sport Association event on the 2.75-mile road course. The Muskogee, OK native now has three wins and two second place finishes in eight races so far in 2024.
Next up for Bryson is the USAC Silver Crown season opener on April 20 at Toledo Speedway in her now familiar Sam Pierce Racing #26 AP Driver Development / Logical Systems / SamPierceChevy.com Silver Crown Car in her quest for duel 2024 championships in USAC and the Trans Am series. Kaylee charged to fifth place finish at Toledo last year after starting 15th in one of her first career pavement races.
Bryon will return to winged 410 pavement Sprint Car competition the following week on April 27th at Sandusky (OH) Speedway with the Must See Racing series in the #26 AP Driver Development / Logical Systems / SamPierceChevy.com Sprint Car. The infamous “laydown” car still holds the track record at Sandusky set in 2016 by Team SPR principal Aaron Pierce who has logged countless wins and two Auto Value Super Sprint championships in the legendary machine. Bryson finished fifth in a Team SPR winged pavement Sprint Car at Citrus County (FL) Speedway in 2022 in her only other winged pavement Sprint Car start.
