Katech engines win 75 percent of all TA2 2021 events; 70 percent of podium top fives
DETROIT – November 22, 2021 – Katech engines added to its legacy of domination in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli TA2 class when 3-Dimensional Services Group and driver Rafa Matos won the 2021 circuit running a Katech engine in their Ford Mustang.
Nine of 12 TA2 National Series events were won by Katech engines, which also reached the podium with six second place finishes and eight third place finishes.
“The number one priority for our racers and teams is to be able to race. Even during a year where there were challenging global logistical challenges, Katech came through for their customers here in the Trans Am paddock, delivering incredibly reliable TA2 Choice Engines,” said Trans Am Race Company President John Clagett. “So it was not too surprising to see more teams decide to go with Katech as the season progressed. We want our racers to get all the support that they need and Katech was a great example of that this year with their focus on customer service."
“We’ve been racing and winning in Trans Am for years, stacking national championship on national championship, so to continue the run is very special,” said Beau Bradley, Race Program Manager for Katech. “This past year was especially sweet, with an all-hands commitment throughout Katech to overcome global logistic challenges brought on by the times and ensure the supply of engines and components was never in question.”
Several teams and drivers credited Katech for their 2021 success – among them, Team SLR and Stevens-Miller Racing.
“The reliability and performance of Katech engines are unmatched,” said Scott Lagasse Jr., team owner and lead driver for Team SLR. “Having Katech engines allows us to concentrate on car setups and driver development.”
“Stevens-Miller racing has been with Katech for several years now, and the reason for that rests in the undisputed on-track performance and reliability our drivers have come to expect,” said team owner Joe Stevens, which finished second in the 2021 series. “Having the best engines and the best track-side service members looking after each of them is unbelievable.
“It's an easy choice for us for 2022,” Stevens continued. “Go with the builder that continues to stand behind their product and provide dedicated services members trackside."
