Michigan-Based Chassis Manufacturer Leads Trans Am Suppliers in Creation of Detroit-Exclusive Program
BEAVERTON, Mich. [Thursday, May 3, 2018] – A native of Michigan, Chas Howe knows all about the spectacle that is the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. Now, as the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli prepares for its third consecutive appearance at Belle Isle for the 3-Dimensional Services Muscle Car Challenge and Motor City Dash featuring the TA2 class, Howe wants to make sure the Trans Am show is in full force.
As the President of Howe Racing Enterprises, Chas Howe has been involved in the TA2 class from its creation, building the road racing chassis underneath many TA2 competitors. With the Detroit Grand Prix coming right up, June 1-3, Howe has taken steps to form a coalition of Trans Am suppliers to help incentivize what should be the largest TA2 class field in the Motor City to date.
“The Detroit Grand Prix brought more than 100,000 spectators to Belle Isle in 2017,” said Howe. “It’s a tremendous showcase for Trans Am and its competitors, putting what we’ve all worked so hard to build front-and-center for the world to see—I want to see as many teams take advantage of this opportunity as possible. At Howe we’ve reached out to our partners and other Trans Am suppliers to help put together a program that will make a difference.”
One of the first calls Howe made was up to Five Star Race Car Bodies, who happily stepped up to the plate.
“Five Star is proud to be a partner with Trans Am, and providing support to our dealers and race teams is vital to our success,” said Steve Einhaus, Key Programs Manager at Five Star. “We are excited to join all of the partners involved for this event, and we are confident this will give competitors the confidence and the reassurance they need to compete at this great event.”
Other companies that have joined Howe and Five Star include Wilwood, Quatermaster, Stop Tech, Setrab and Michigan-based Turn One Performance. The discounts by each supplier are outlined below.
Five Star Race Car Bodies through Howe: 15% off all bodies
Howe Racing Enterprises: 15% off all Howe manufactured support products
Wilwood: 25% off all calipers, pads and rotors
Quartermaster: 20% off all Quartermaster products
Pro Systems: 15% off calipers, pads and rotors
Stop Tech: 15% off calipers and rotors
Setrab: 15% off transmission coolers, rear ends and power steering
Turn One: 10% off power steering pumps
All items delivered to the track will be free of freight charges. Competitors must be entered in the event for eligible discounts and are limited in number of parts per car. A standard inventory of parts will be on hand in limited supply; however, Howe recommends all orders be placed in advance to guarantee delivery at Detroit. Any items back ordered will be subject to normal freight costs.
For 2018, Trans Am will bring its popular TA2 class to the streets of Belle Isle for a high-stakes double points weekend. The two races, the 3-Dimensional Services Muscle Car Challenge, on Saturday June 2, and the 3-Dimensional Services Motor City Dash, on Sunday June 3, will feature the iconic TA2 class battle among the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger right in the very heart of the city that forged the iconic models.
The Trans Am Series will bring with it an estimated 25 TA2 cars, featuring the likes of points leader Rafa Matos, Michigan’s own Marc Miller, 2016 Champion Tony Buffomante, and more.
