Howe Long Haul Award for Brainerd International Raceway

PARTNER RELEASE -- Shane Lewis is the sixth different recipient of the Howe Long Haul Award for the twelve race 2015 TA2 schedule. The Brainerd event marked the second Long Haul Award of the season for the Robinson racing team. Gar Robinson had collected the same award two events prior at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut.

Shane topped the TA2 charts in the first official practice session on Saturday with a time of 1.32.69, a time that was faster than the eventual pole speed set the following day by Tommy Archer. Archer claimed the pole driving his new 2015 Howe chassis in the car's first outing. Archer went on to an impressive second place finish in Sunday's race sharing the podium with Shane Lewis's teammate Gar Robinson who finished third. Lewis finished sixth as one of seven Howe built cars completing the top ten.

The recreational area of Brainerd is an 1,840 mile journey north from the home of Shane Lewis in Jupiter, Florida. According to series co-owner and Minnesota resident Jim Derhaag, "People think Brainerd is two stoplights from the North Pole." While this may be an exaggeration BIR is the Northern most stop on the Trans Am national tour. The $850 Howe Award helps a different driver at each event with the cost of travel, or as in this Independence Day event, the cost of fireworks.

Howe Racing Enterprises was founded in 1971 and has been involved in the TA2 class since its inception in 2011. Howe produces a wide variety of specialized racing components in addition to partial and complete cars for asphalt racing worldwide.
