Greenlight Television Renewed as 2023 Production Company for Trans Am

CHARLOTTE (February 24, 2023) — The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli is pleased to announce the renewal of Greenlight Television as its production company in 2023. For the sixth season in a row, Greenlight will be capturing digital content, streaming, producing and distributing Trans Am’s live race broadcasts for this season’s events, in addition to working with recently-announced broadcast partner MAVTV.

Returning to the broadcast booth as lead announcer is broadcast veteran Jonathan Green, who will be joined by a variety of co-hosts offering expert analysis throughout the season, including Trans Am driver Adam Andretti. Ben Cissell will once again serve as pre-race, post-race and pit-road reporter.

Trans Am races will stream live in their entirety on Trans Am and SpeedTour’s YouTube channels, before being edited into 60-minute features and broadcast to MAVTV’s 22 million North American linear households and 175 million connected devices. MAVTV will also be streaming the races through their FAST Channels, which reaches 25 different countries.

Greenlight also offers international distribution of Trans Am transmissions, with a worldwide reach of more than a billion homes. Headquartered in Isle of Man, the company was recently awarded Motorsport TV Production Company of the Year in 2022 by The Motorsport Awards.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome back Greenlight International in 2023,” said Trans Am President John Clagett. “Greenlight does excellent work and utilizes cutting-edge wireless technology, seamlessly integrating camera feeds, drones and on-board footage with commentary and graphics before streaming worldwide. Their broad international reach is invaluable in expanding our sport’s audience.”

“We can’t wait to kick off our sixth year of Trans Am production and distribution,” said Greenlight TV producer Lauren Roberts. “Since we started with the series in 2018, we’ve been excited to tell the story of its heritage and modern rebirth to domestic and worldwide audiences.  In 2020, when [SpeedTour CEO] Tony Parella and John Clagett set us the challenge of producing live coverage of the SpeedTour and the Trans Am Series in a totally new way, Greenlight founder, Rob Hurdman, went back to the drawing board and reinvented the way racing around long road courses was covered.  It was a huge learning curve for the team, but the fact we are still producing the series this way and went on to produce the Isle of Man TT around a nearly 38-mile track using the same system, is a testament to the success of that first year. From a distribution standpoint, we’ve seen the series’ popularity with broadcasters grow exponentially, and we are looking forward to bringing the unique, raw and competitive racing that is Trans Am into even more homes in 2023.”

In addition to Trans Am, Greenlight will also produce and live stream races for other SpeedTour properties such as the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), International GT (IGT), Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda (FR Americas), Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda (F4 U.S.), and the new Prototype Sprint Series Association (PSSA).

The 2023 Trans Am season kicks off at Sebring International Raceway February 23-26, with the event airing on MAVTV on March 2.

The live broadcasts of Sebring can be seen on February 25 and 26 on Trans Am’s YouTube channel (@TheTransAmSeries), as well as SpeedTour’s YouTube channel (@SpeedTourTV).
