Fast Weekend with Pro/Am Ambitions End Early After Damage Proves Decisive for Sheehan at Road Atlanta

Braselton, GEORGIA – March 26, 2025 – As the SpeedTour weekend was unfolding at Road Atlanta, Tom Sheehan opted for four new tires on the No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies/Vixen Motorcycle Co./Mike Cope Ford Mustang to start the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series race on Sunday. In the end they didn't get as much wear on the new set of tires as Tom and the Mike Cope team had hoped.
This move put Tom at the back of the starting grid and forgoing his P24 qualification effort. Something he referenced when speaking after the race, “Pretty frustrated. It's half my fault. I did agree to race with some squirrels!”
Name checked by co-commentator Adam Andretti as the only competitor in the TA2 Class to have been ever present since its inception, Tom was typically honest when his race came to a premature end with the damage to his car caused after 10 laps precluding a return to the race.
“Racing in the back of the field, we took four [new tires] after a rough qualifying run. The rear of the field was not the place to be.”
Always magnanimous Tom added, “Congratulations to my teammate Keith Prociuk in the No. 9 taking the win in class.”
Temperatures in the Peach State in March can vary wildly, and so it proved this weekend with high winds and giving way to the mid 60s by race time.
Although a disappointing result, Tom did collect 64 points in the Pro/Am Challenge series Championship while next up for the National circuit is the California double-header at Sonoma and Laguna Seca in May.
