Dyson Leads Green Flag to Checker at Road America, Brabham 2nd as CD Racing Sweeps Second-Consecutive Trans Am Weekend
June 30, 2025

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (June 30, 2025) – Chris Dyson never put a wheel wrong all weekend in his #16 GYM WEED Mustang on the way to victory in the Trans Am by Pirelli race at Road America. With fellow front-row starter Matthew Brabham, who set a track record winning the pole in his #21 GYM WEED Mustang, crossing the finish line 1.524 seconds later, it marked the second time in just eight days that the CD Racing team stood on the top two steps of the podium in the GYM WEED Winners Circle.
“It’s great to be back in the winners circle at Road America again,” said Dyson, who also won Trans Am races at the historic Wisconsin circuit in 2020 and 2021. "There's so much history here; I just love this place more and more. It’s been so good to us with many great memories going back decades. It's one of the most prestigious and loved circuits in worldwide racing and it deserves its reputation. To win here is especially significant for any driver. To come out of this weekend with another victory, I couldn't be happier. Once again, my cap is off to my guys; truly great work by the team, my engine builder Mike Lanci and of course my teammate Matty Brabham for making today another one-two."
Last weekend at Mid-Ohio it was Brabham who won from the pole, while Dyson finished second with an ill-handling car while tenaciously fighting off a race-long challenge from Paul Menard.
Dyson Establishes Another Career Milestone
In addition to his third Road America Trans Am win this was also Dyson’s sixth TA podium at Road America. Dyson is now a six-time winner at Road America, including IMSA and Pirelli World Challenge victories. Perhaps more importantly, this weekend's win marked Dyson’s 28th Trans Am win since joining the series in 2018 and bumps him up into a tie for third with Tommy Kendall in the 59-year-old series career wins list.
“I always looked up to Tommy and admired him, so it's a personally significant milestone to stand alongside him in the Trans Am ‘books’,” Dyson said. He then turned to the remainder of 2025. "But we’ve still got a lot of racing left this year. The season started off for us with no shortage of adversity,” referring to a hard crash during the season-opener at Sebring that caused him to miss the next race at Road Atlanta, where Brabham took the win for CD Racing.
Back in the car for the series’ West Coast swing, Dyson finished second at Sonoma and then won from the pole at Laguna Seca. At the following race, Lime Rock Park over the Memorial Day weekend, Dyson looked to be on his way to a convincing win only to be taken out while lapping a slower car.
“It was great for the team when Matty won at Road Atlanta,” Dyson recalled. “And after the win at Laguna we were back on track. Lime Rock was disappointing and felt like a bit of a setback. But with the one-two finishes here and last weekend at Mid-Ohio we really have momentum. Because of the races we lost earlier in the season the driver’s championship is a longshot, but I think we’ve shown for race wins we are the team to beat in the second half of the season.”
Watkins Glen Next On Trans Am Calendar
Dyson brings a dominating history to the next race on the schedule, Watkins Glen International (July 11-13). He has won three of the six most recent Trans Am races at the legendary Central New York circuit and he was runner-up in the other three.
