Dylan Archer Joins Franklin Road Apparel Team in TA2 Switch
September 20, 2022
Franklin, TENNESSEE – September 20, 2022 - Fresh from scoring their second win of the season in the TA Class with Justin Marks leading all the way from start to finish at Watkins Glen, the Franklin Road Apparel team headed by the effervescent Ken Thwaits made a big announcement this week. The up-and-coming young TA2 driver Dylan Archer will be joining the growing Showtime Motorsports Tennessee outfit for the remainder of the year and all next season in 2023. Archer, of Fort Worth, Texas, is the son of Bobby Archer and the nephew of fellow Duluth racing legend Tommy Archer.
Dylan, 23, started racing go-karts when he was four and he currently sits in P13 in the Drivers' Championship in TA2. He collected 107 points behind the wheel of the MMR/FPEC Racing Group Ford Mustang. The Showtime Motorsports Franklin Road team meanwhile have amassed 205 points through the combined efforts of Cameron Lawrence, Carl Rydquist, Austin Green, Tyler Ankrum and Ken Thwaits himself.
Dylan will be switching to a Chevrolet Camaro for his stint with Franklin Road Apparel, his participation made possible by the ongoing partnership with Food Processing Equipment Company Corp. FPEC Corp is a true industry leader and American manufacturing success story based in Springdale, Arkansas. Headed by long-time motorsports enthusiast and SVRA sponsor Alan Davison, their continuing support for Trans Am TA2 is another boost not just for Ken and his dedicated team but for the whole Trans Am paddock.
We spoke to Dylan about the switch, and he was understandably thrilled to be joining such a highly competitive and progressive team, "I am so proud and honoured to take the next step in my career with the Franklin Road Apparel and Showtime Motorsports team. This group has had numerous successes and what they have been able to accomplish throughout their first year, shows the effort, time and commitment that everyone on this team is putting in. I've always had a high level of respect for Ken and his team, including Cameron to which I am excited to learn from him as a teammate, starting at VIR. This is truly a wonderful opportunity to have a successful program including FPEC and our other marketing partners all coming together for the remaining races this year and the 2023 season."
Dylan’s other marketing partners are SIMAGIC, Rambo Bikes, Red Line Oil, TEAMTECH and Pyrotect Safety Gear. They will join Franklin Road Apparel on the car and they begin testing at VIR next week.
Alan Davison, the owner of FPEC added, "I couldn't be more excited to bring FPEC and our partnership with Dylan Archer to the Showtime Motorsports team. We all have a strong passion for the sport, this series and I look forward to seeing Dylan and the entire team racing at the front with many successes to come."
Franklin Road chief Ken Thwaits stated, "I'm thrilled to have Dylan Archer on our team. He's a real up and comer and it's great to be able to give him an opportunity to race at the sharp end of the TA2 pack. He's a sponsor's dream and we can't wait to get started."
