Drissi Motorsports to Compete in Round 11 of the Trans Am Championship at Circuit of Americas
October 30, 2024
Hollywood, CA – November 3, 2024 – Drissi Motorsports is set to wrap up the 2024 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli with this weekend’s final round at Circuit of the Americas. Former TA champion Tomy Drissi and Don Yount will be behind the wheel of the team’s two Chevrolet Camaros in the season finale. The race will take place on Sunday, November 3, with the green flag waving at 1:45PM ET.
Drissi will be behind the wheel of the team’s #8 Lucas Oil/MavTV/Franklin Road/Mission Foods Chevrolet Camaro. Drissi is currently in the midst of a three-race podium streak, including a season-best second-place finish at VIRginia International Raceway on October 6. He sits third in the championship standings with six podiums, nine top-fives, and a pole at Lime Rock Park in May.
Circuit of the Americas has been the Trans-Am season finale for the past three years. Drissi has two podiums and four top-five finishes in TA at the famed Texas circuit over the past five years, and will look to build on his momentum from VIR by further improving on last year’s top-five in the finale.
“COTA presents a unique set of challenges, and many fast drivers leave the track humbled. However, I believe we have the best team, the best crew, and the best sponsors, and we are better prepared for the challenge than we have been in years,” said Drissi. “I can’t thank the team and all the specialists enough for their hard work, and I’d like to extend my gratitude to Lucas Oil, Mav TV, Franklin Road, and Mission Foods for their support.”
Yount returns to the #7 Southwest Funding/Villa Carrera Chevrolet Camaro for the second time this season. Yount made his debut in the TA class this summer at Road America, finishing a solid fourth in class. The Dallas native brings a wealth of experience in GT cars and prototypes alike to the team.
“I’m excited to be back with Drissi Motorsports for the Trans-Am season finale at COTA,” said Yount. “There’s no other car like a TA car, and my first experience with the team was amazing. The car was fast at Road America and I’m sure we’ll be even faster this weekend!”
The TA class first hits the track for optional test sessions at 11:30AM and 5:30PM on Friday. Saturday will see practice at 12PM and qualifying at 5:25PM before Sunday’s race at 12:45PM (all times local). The season finale is scheduled for 70 minutes or 30 laps around the 3.426-mile circuit.
The 2024 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli at Circuit of The Americas promises to be an exciting event. Fans can purchase tickets for the weekend and access live timing. Fans can also watch the action live on MAVTV on Sunday, November 3 at 1:30PM ET, with a highlight show airing on Thursday, November 7 at 9PM ET.
