David Seuss. TA3 International Champion.

David Seuss. TA3 International Champion.

Production performance has always played a role in the legacy of Trans Am, and engrained within that racing legacy is an iconic make—Porsche.  While not the fire-breathing Detroit muscle that makes up so much of the Trans Am legacy, Porsche has always had a role to play in America’s Road Racing Series.

In the 2013 Trans Am Season, David Seuss, and compatriot Tim Gray, put their Porsches to the test carrying the torch for the make throughout the year.  Seuss sat behind the driver’s seat of the Northern Light Porsche 996 GT3 a total of seven times, taking away six victories in his efforts, along with plenty of track records and poles.

Seuss’s success saw him clinch the TA3 International title a round early at the Road Atlanta, much to his surprise.

“I hadn’t been counting points,”  said Seuss.  “I really had no idea when they announced it on podium.  It’s a great feeling and I’m very proud to be associated with our current and prior champions.”

Seuss had another opportunity to speak on his victory at the Trans Am Gala Sunday evening at Daytona Beach.

“I genuinely love this series,” said Seuss.  “I love what it stands for and how this truly is a family of competitors.  We should never lose sight of that as Trans Am grows and becomes more and more successful—trends that we’re seeing now.  We have great racing, great drivers and great people in this Series; and I’m proud to consider myself one of them.”

Seuss began the year with Trans Am at Sebring International Raceway, finishing first; and while he sat out Trans Am’s annual northern pilgrimage to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, he repeated the performance at Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen during rounds three and four.  Two more victories followed at Mid-Ohio and Brainerd, before closing the year out with a victory at Road Atlanta and a second place finish at Daytona International Speedway.

While the second place finish held Seuss back from going a perfect seven for seven on the 2013 Season, it continued his podium streak that dates back to 2012, a streak worthy of the Porsche name.

That streak remains intact and helped Seuss along his way to becoming the 2013 TA3 International Champion.  A fitting title for a man who represents the Porsche make with passion and pride.
