The duo brings 60 years of combined auto racing expertise to Trans Am TA2
Collins Motorsports based in Bakersfield, California has been building and preparing winning race cars since 1986. For over three decades Collins Motorsports has specialized in Pro Late Model, Super Late Model and ARCA West competition. For 2021, Collins Motorsports is taking on a new venture as they add road course racing to the resume. CMS joins the Trans Am TA2 Series providing west coast tech and track day support to Trans Am powerhouse Mike Cope Racing.
With a home base in Clearwater, Florida, Mike Cope Racing has been an authorized chassis builder of Cope Race Cars for Trans Am since 2013 and fields multiple teams in the Trans Am TA2 national championship series. Lead by Mike Cope, he brings the same passion, enthusiasm, and knowledge to his TA2 race team that proved him victorious in his own racing career.
The names of Cope and Collins have been long associated with the world of oval track stock racing, most notably in NASCAR; however, after successfully fielding cars part-time in both GTA and TA2 in the early 2010’s MCR made the business decision to dedicate their knowledge and experience to the Trans Am TA2 series. The addition of Collins Motorsports to the MCR west coast efforts brings 60 years of combined auto racing experience to the series creating a true advantage to all the west coast Cope Race Cars competitors.
Currently, Collins Motorsports fields cars in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series and SPEARS SRL Pro Late Model Series. CMS is an authorized Port City Race Car dealer, with a full fabrication shop for repairs. Collins Motorsports’ fabrication team built and designed the prototype race truck that launched the NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series.
