Chris Coffey wins 2024 GT Championship in Maserati GT4
December 14, 2024
Chris Coffey wins the 2024 GT class championship after competing in his first full season in Trans Am. This is Chris' second championship in two years with Trans Am after running a partial season in 2023 to win the Pro/Am Championship.
"The key to success in Trans Am is consistency," said Chris. "We work really hard in the shop and through the weekend to keep the cars going and running up front. It's not easy to take a Gen 1 GT4 car that's pretty long in the tooth and have a flawless season with out a single DNS or DNF."
Chris scored eight wins and never finished off the podium in the 2024 season.
"2025 should be an interesting year for us. I can't wait to compete with Trans Am again" says Coffey. "The Maseratis, truly, are an incredible platform. They make a glorious sound and a unique look and have the speed to back it up. We are the only team in the US supporting the Maserati brand, not to mention winning while we are at it. These cars are quite rare but we have a third car that we will hopefully be bringing to the grid next year. Who knows there might be a Ferrari on the grid too..."
Chris's team, Norwood Auto Italia, is no stranger to success with the Italian brands of Ferrari and Maserati. Norwood Auto Italia is a Texas-based shop specializing in Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini. After years of success running Ferrari Challenge cars the NAI team made the move into Maserati GT4 and is looking to expand their program in 2025.
"No one can be successful in this sport with out a great team of people behind them," continued Coffey. "Alex Buruian and Xavier Willis have done an incredible job working with me all year to keep the cars going and Jason Hart has been an incredible coaching resource for me all year. Without Josh Hurley I don't know where we'd be right now. Long hours into the night we've poured over data to get the car right and long distance coaching sessions to help me get prepared for weekends. I owe this championship to these guys and my sponsors. Traffic Grafix, Norwood Auto Italia, Chillout and my biggest sponsor of all Colin Cohen who believes in me and has kept me in a position to do this."
