Challenging Weekend for GoShare Corvette at Road America
August 30, 2016
Elkhart Lake, WI – August 29, 2016 – A highly anticipated Trans Am Series Championship event was paired with the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America for a weekend of competitive racing at its best. After a number of excellent finishes this season, Burtin Racing is aiming to gain back critical ranks in the season points battle. It was a weekend of decidedly mixed weather causing the team to work hard on strategy, however the rain did not deter race fans from coming out in droves to catch their favorite sportscar series in action.
The Burtin Racing GoShare Corvette concluded a challenging weekend of Trans Am Series competition after a string of mechanical problems that plagued the team in both the Fast Five qualifications on Friday and the Trans Am 100 race on Saturday.
“We spent the qualification round in the pits rebuilding the engine and the guys were very efficient working on the car however that put us seventeenth on the grid to start the race,” said Claudio Burtin, team owner and driver. “It was raining on Saturday morning but the weather looked like it might clear up and we made the call to start on a dry chassis setup. I didn't have any visibility in the cockpit and we gambled on a dry race line. We ended up finishing where we started but great job to the TA-3 drivers who worked up the grid."
CBS Sports Network coverage of the Trans Am 100 from Road America will air on Sunday, September 18 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
Next up for Trans Am and Burtin Racing will be Round 8 at Virginia International Speedway on September 24. Get your tickets for the event, click here.
