Burtin Top-5 in Championship Leaving Homestead-Miami

Homestead, FL - April 15, 2015 - Trans Am ace Claudio Burtin improved his overall standing to fifth in the 2015 chase for the 3-Dimensional Services Trigon Trophy at Homestead-Miami Speedway after a difficult weekend getting the No. 7 FOAMETIX Corvette C7.R setup and engine maintenance dialed in for the 75-minute race.

It was hot all weekend long as temperatures reached the upper 80’s yet feeling like 90+ degrees on race day, which made for a slick race surface, dramatic racing and intense cockpit temperatures for the drivers in Sunday’s Round 2 of the Trans Am Championship tour at the south Florida raceway which runs the partial inside road course and up on the banked oval section.

Burtin qualified the FOAMETIX Corvette C7.R 15th on the starting grid and got an impressive start which put him in get position to run to the front. His aggressive and clean passes got him all the way up to seventh place and was looking strong to keep charging. On lap 20 Lopez’s Corvette lost a right rear tire sending him into the wall on the exit of the oval heading onto the front straight causing the race to be stopped. When restarted, the 102.15-mile, 45-lap race turned into a test of endurance for all participants.

"It was really tough out there and the racing line on the track got very greasy so traction was difficult," Driver Claudio Burtin remarks post race. "We dealt with some development issues with the car again this weekend and during the race the steering was causing the wheels to lock. The team spent Saturday night making crucial modifications to the engine, so in the prevailing circumstances, there can be no doubt we did amazingly well to bring the FOAMETIX Corvette C7.R home in the seventh place."

For the next upcoming round of the Trans Am series the circuit will take place in the backyard of Burtin Racing and at Claudio Burtin's home track of Road Atlanta.

"We will continue to learn more as we develop the car and get more races under our belt," said Burtin. "That's going to be a big help going forward. We are aiming for both performance and reliability.”

Another record entry of no fewer than 86 cars will be lining up are entered for the Braselton, Georgia event on May 9th for the FOAMETIX headline event. After the trials and tribulations in Miami, Burtin Racing heads to Atlanta in great shape for the homecoming event.

Well positioned in fifth in the overall standings of the 2015 Trans Am series, Claudio Burtin is already looking like one of the more likely contenders for end of season honors.
