Burtin Racing and GoShare Arrive at Virginia International Raceway

Alton, VA – September 22, 2016 – It’s the final stretch of the 2016 Trans Am Series Championship and with just seven weeks to go there are still five big events up for grabs. This weekend Burtin Racing and the No. 7 GoShare Corvette C7.R enter Round 8 at Virginia International Raceway for the Trans Am 100. The series will be joined by the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association, holding the Heacock Classic Gold Cup with over 250 historics along with Formula and Production/GT. It promises to be a great weekend of motorsport for all.

The advancements made to the engine package and setup mean that the Burtin Racing team will be looking to improve finishing position after the misfortune of technical setbacks seen at Mid-Ohio and Road America last month. This season, the GoShare Corvette has proved very competitive and Burtin will look to hit the homestretch of the season with a strong racecar at the head of the field.

Virginia International Raceway first opened in 1957 and features a 3.27-mile asphalt road course with 17 turns. This circuit is known as a fast and technical layout and is located on the Virginia and North Carolina border.

“This is a difficult race track where you hit high speeds and then very technical and demanding turns,” said Claudio Burtin, team owner and driver. “The team has strived this season through trials and tribulations with our development of the car. We improve with what we learn and look forward to this weekend.”

The Trans Am 100 from Virginia International Raceway starts this Saturday, September 24 at 11:25 AM ET. Download the Race Monitor application to follow the live timing and scoring board.

Don’t miss the CBS Sports Network broadcast Saturday, September 24 at 12:00 PM ET for the Trans Am 100 at Road America.
