Andretti emphasizes urgency at Road Atlanta
April 25, 2014

(Team Release) When ECC Motorsports team owner A.J. Henriksen and driver Adam Andretti got together to race the Trans Am Road Racing Series in 2014, the goal was a championship. The season opening races in Florida in March showed the team had the speed to run at the front. Sebring was a disappointment only because a mechanical failure didn't allow them to finish the race. The next race at Homestead produced a challenge for the pole position and a solid 2nd place finish.
Andretti starts the next segment of the schedule 4th in championship points and just one point behind 3rd place Bob Stretch.
The 100 Miles of Luna-C at Road Atlanta starts a grueling stretch of three races in four weeks and a prime opportunity to climb the points standings. "Yes, of course, we have an urgency already in the season to make up points because its such a competitive series.", says Andretti. "Its not just Cameron(Lawrence) we are chasing. Ron Keith has shown up ready to rock and you can't discount a two time champ like Stretch."
Pre season Andretti pointed out a critical factor in the 2014 championship. "You have to finish these races.", he said. Its true. After qualifying 2nd in the season opener at Sebring the transmission failure in that race and their failure to finish is a main reason why the #44 Camaro sits 4th in points. The Atlanta race is the first of races on back to back weekends with Canadian Tire Motorsports Park following immediately the next Saturday. Taking care of your equipment is even more important now.
Road Atlanta is a demanding course that demands a price for even the smallest mistakes. It is also a roller coaster ride of uphill and downhill elevation changes. "It's a wild ride. I would have loved to have driven in the days when the dip was present.", Andretti says. "I love the place. I always have since I watched my first race there as a child. I actually have never met a racer who doesn't look forward to competing at Road Atlanta."
Adam and ECC Motorsports are focused and prepared to take the next step up in their season with the race at Road Atlanta. "I've been chomping at the bit ever since the flag fell at Homestead and my ECC Motorsports crew has been working flat out to be ready for this round."
Round 3 of then 2014 Trans Am Championship is May 10th at Road Atlanta.
