Brabham Wins at COTA as CD Racing Ends Trans Am Season on High Note

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 3, 2025) – CD Racing’s Matthew Brabham turned in a dominating performance Sunday afternoon in Chris Dyson’s #16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang to win the Trans Am by Pirelli season finale at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Starting far back on the grid, Brabham sliced through the field, stalking the leaders before seizing the lead at the halfway point in the 100-mile sprint. From there Brabham pulled away from Adam Andretti and Paul Menard to win by more than 15 seconds. On his way to his third victory of the season Brabham set the fasted lap of the race, a full second quicker than any of his competition.

“It was a great race,” Brabham proclaimed from the top step of the podium in the GYM WEED Winners Circle. “Hats off to the team for giving me a car with so much speed. I’m happy to win this race for Chris, who’s home with his family this weekend.”

In an up-and-down season with almost as much disappointment as joy, Dyson and Brabham nonetheless combined to win six of the season’s 12 races. Dyson came back from injuries sustained at the season opener that also knocked him out of the following race to win at Laguna Seca, Road America and Virginia International Raceway. In addition to his victory this weekend in Texas, Brabham picked up wins at Road Atlanta and Mid-Ohio.

“Over the course of the year CD Racing pretty much had the fastest car every weekend,” Dyson noted. “We also had way more than our share of plain bad luck along the way. But the team always bounced back and won.”

The Texas weekend was a good example. After Brabham set the fastest time during Friday’s test session, an electrical gremlin prevented him from posting a competitive time in Saturday’s practice session. So when lightning cancelled qualifying and Saturday practice times were used to set the grid, Brabham was forced to start at the back. But he still finished first.

“I’m proud of the team’s winning record and resilience and we were fast everywhere this year and really had the car dialed in, but we had peaks and valleys with results. So I’m not sorry to see this very uneven season end,” Dyson continued. "But I'm sure glad we wrapped it up as we did, with the #16 car parked in GYM WEED Winners Circle."
