Sheehan and Vixen Cycle LTK Manage Top Five at Virginia Trans Am

Alton, VIRGINIA – October 7, 2024 - A stop-start race for Round 12 of the 2024 Trans Am presented by Pirelli CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series ended in mild frustration for New Hampshire's Tom Sheehan. The experienced TA2 pilot was shoved off the podium in the closing stages on Saturday afternoon at Virginia International Raceway after making several brilliant passes and leading the Pro Am class for the first stint of the race.
Already a winner this year in the inaugural TA2 Pro Am class, former Ironman Sheehan driving the No. 97 Vixen Motorcycle LTK Insulation Mustang successfully navigated multiple restarts to lead the Pro Am class with few remaining green flag laps. A restart melee with contact forced the No. 97 off track and conceded three places before the finish.
“The Mike Cope team gave me a fantastic car right off the trailer,” said Tom Sheehan after the race. “We had great pace all weekend.”
Tom's boast that he had a fast car straight out of the trailer is backed up by a series of quick times in limited practice. The Vixen LTK Mustang was recorded with Tom in first testing at 1:51:866 on Lap 8.
Tom went on to praise The Mike cope racing team for their sterling work in the aftermath of the gigantic storm that caused so much destruction further south, “Incredibly the team executed the turnaround of the team cars after a double weekend on the road with a catastrophic hurricane thrown in the middle of a short break. Several of the team members were affected.

The qualifying session was rebuked by the stewards putting the 97 Vixen Cycle Mike Cope Ford Mustang P14 on the grid for the main event.
“The race and pre-race practice and qualifying were challenged by multiple crashes limiting green flag laps. I believe it, the on track performance by the TA2 field, to a cumulative impact of non calls for the season. I have a roughly 3000 lb car. It's in my hands. I am responsible for everything it does. I would love that sentiment to be shared through the TA2 paddock.”
Sheehan and the Vixen Motorcycle LTK Mustang finished P5 in the Pro Am class and P17 overall in the TA2 Series race at Virginia International Raceway.
Tom now heads to the Formula 1 Circuit of The Americas for the Series finale from October 31 to November 3. Get ready for more high-octane action from Texas!
