Stevens-Miller Racing Heads to COTA with Nathan Herne
November 1, 2022
Columbia City, IN – Stevens-Miller Racing heads to Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas for the final round of the 2022 Trans Am TA2 season. A newcomer, Nathan Herne, will be join the Stevens-Miller Racing outfit, traveling from Australia to make his International Racing Debut. Alongside him will be TA2 Rookie Evan Slater with the Cube3 Mustang, Tyler Kicera in the #77 Liqui-Moly Camaro, and Rhett Barkau in the Berryman Products Dodge Challenger. Additionally, Marc Austin will station alongside SMR with his GT3 Mercedes AMG.
Although new to SMR and COTA, Nathan Herne is no stranger to the TA2 platform as he’s a Championship winning Trans Am driver back home. In Australia, however, TA cars are what we call TA2 class, and the cars are all built to one spec. So, by design, the vehicles track performance depends on the driver’s skill and their team’s preparation. The by-product of this approach is a dramatic cost savings and a level playing field.
When asked for comment before making the long trip Nathan Herne had this to say, “I’m more than keen for it.” “To go over to the US is something I’ve always dreamed about since I was about 12 years old, but I quickly wrote that off as soon as I found out how much it cost to go over there. So, to finally get the opportunity, I’m keen as mustard and hopefully it’s not the last chance to go”.
Tyler Kicera is in a battle for fifth and he’s excited to get back behind the wheel of his Camaro. “I'm really looking forward to COTA and finishing off our year strong with LIQUI MOLY and Turn14 Distribution on our Camaro. They've been great partners and I cannot thank them enough for the opportunity along with Stevens-Miller Racing. COTA is a real test of car and driver, and these types of tracks suit me well. We'd be right in the championship hunt heading into the weekend with a little less bad luck. Instead, we'll be fighting for a top-five, which in this most competitive era of TA2 is still very tough” Stated Kicera.
SMR President, Joe Stevens, is also overjoyed for the trip down south and another chance to prove his team is always a podium threat. “Fielding these wonderful drivers at the F1 circuit is a true blessing. I know our biggest competitive advantage is our work ethic and a nonstop pursuit of increased speed. Together, with all our amazing partners, this event will be one to remember.”
