Archer 11th at Road America; Closing in on Top 10 in Points

MMR/FPEC Racing Group and Dylan Archer are pleased after leaving Road America and the 8th round of the 2022 Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli TA2 race over the 4th of July weekend. Archer made his 9th official start in a TA2 car and couldn’t have been more excited to rebound from the past 2 events, with an 11th place finish. This is his second 11th place finish of the season with his season best finish, a 7th at Charlotte Motor Speedway to-date.
Dylan began the weekend sitting 12th in overall points and 3rd in the rookie points standings – 15 points behind 10th place and knew this was a track where he could get both the finish he and the car deserved. The 45+ car field had 2 test sessions and 1 practice session which was needed and appreciated as again, this was a new track to learn for the rookie driver. Archer found himself mid-pack on the results sheet knowing there was more speed to be had.  “Road America was another weekend of learning for us at the MMR/FPEC Racing Group team. We started off slightly behind where we wanted to be - working through issues but didn’t stop our focus to get things better. While I felt good after the 3 sessions and heading into qualifying, it was unfortunate that I had a great lap going before being impeded by another driver on our flyer lap,” says Archer.

Qualifying had Archer starting 23rd on the grid out of the 46-car field and knew that the 4-mile track, 25 lap race would be a battle, requiring Archer to navigate his way through the field to the front. The plan was to utilize Dylan’s driving style of being patiently aggressive and start picking off the cars one at a time. The positions didn’t come easy but sticking to the plan, Archer was able to move up the field taking advantage of good speed in the corners and solid restarts after a few caution flags.  While the top 10 was directly in Archer’s view on the last lap, this solid result was exactly what the team and driver needed – all happening in front of a wonderful crowd.

“It was a special experience to have my family at the track and have their support in-person and it was even more special having my dad and uncle in the pits on the radio for me throughout the race. Its always an honor to represent FPEC and with the next few weeks off to regroup and recharge – we’ll be ready to learn another new track at Nashville.”

Next up on the schedule for round 9 out of 12 in the TA2 season is the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix with IndyCar on August 5th and 6th.
