Lime Rock Ends Archer’s Consistent Run: Focus is on for Mid-Ohio
June 1, 2022
Dylan Archer and the MMR/FPEC Racing Group had great momentum heading into last Saturday’s Trans Am TA2 race at Lime Rock, sitting 9th in points with finishes in all 5 races to-date. Unfortunately, that run came to an end and brought heartbreak to the 22-year-old rookie driver after a mechanical issue prevented him from starting the race. Archer, whom had a rocky start before even hitting the track, battled flu like symptoms starting on Thursday. Additionally, the 1.47 mile, 7 corner track was a new venue for Archer, forcing him to learn while adjusting to the ever-changing weather conditions of intermittent rain. Nonetheless, the experience learned throughout the weekend has been valuable and will serve him well in the 2nd half of the Trans Am TA2 season, starting next month through November.
Archer’s thoughts from the weekend - “Going into Lime Rock, we all had high hopes, as it is a track I have liked, and my family has had previous success at. In the practice sessions, we were taking it easy, getting comfortable with the track and making the adjustments that we needed throughout and between both sessions. During qualifying, we had an unfortunate engine failure before being able to put down a lap time. The team went through all our options and with limited time and parts available – we were unable to start the race. I want to give a huge thank you to the multiple drivers and teams within the Trans Am paddock that reached out to us with ideas and help. Those actions really show how amazing the people within this series are. Looking forward and being halfway through the season with 6 races remaining, I can confidently say that we are already focused and ready to bounce back at Mid-Ohio.”
FPEC Owner, Alan Davison, has truly enjoyed the progress, success and growth from Dylan since the season kick-off at Sebring and couldn’t be prouder to continue the partnership. “It’s been our goal to run in the top 10 in the points and be a contender for the rookie of the year championship. Dylan continues to drive smart and patient – improving and growing his confidence each race. I’m excited that we will continue to run this full season and more successful results to come.”
Coming up next is the 7th round on the 2022 TA2 schedule at Mid-Ohio, over the June 23-26 weekend.
