New York—Adrain Wlostowski and his F.A.S.T. Auto, Hawk Performance team made the long tow to California for round three of The Trans Am presented by Pirelli at the famed Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. Looking forward to driving the Northern California track for the first time, Wlostowski and his team came away disappointed after a master cylinder failure left him beached early in the race.
Wlostowski said, “To say we were disappointed in our race is an understatement. We came to California with a new team of guys, most of whom had never met before, and can’t thank them enough! It was our first time at this track and made big changes after each and every session to find more speed.
“With 34 cars in the stacked TA2 field every tenth of a second made a big difference. I got steadily faster as I got more laps on the track, and I was really pleased to have qualified ninth. There were seven of us in the 1 minute 30 range, so a few tenths quicker and we would be starting fourth. All and all, I was really pleased with qualifying because I knew we’d be in the hunt come race time.”
After a good start and a quick yellow, Wlostowski found himself in eighth and looking for more when he suffered the master cylinder failure that would end his day.
“At the start of the race we ran well, we were running in eighth and digging for more. We were running really strong until our master cylinder failed entering the corkscrew and that ended our day. I was pretty disappointed, it was still early in the race and the car was strong even with saving tires for the end. I loved the track and we were just getting better. We’ll keep after it — we’re already looking toward our Memorial Day race at Lime Rock Park.”
The F.A.S.T. Auto racing team will be in full force at Lime Rock Memorial Day weekend. Doug Winston and his No.98 D&M Electrical Contracting Camaro will be joining Wlostowski ‘s No.3 Hawk Performance Camaro in TA2, while Mike Phillips will be returning in his No.97 F.A.S.T. Auto Corvette in SGT.
