Contact Costs Charging Sheehan at Laguna Seca

Bow, NEW HAMPSHIRE - May 4, 2021 - Professional sports can sometimes deal unimaginative cruel blows, and so it proved at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in the race for Round 3 of the 2021 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship season. New Hampshire's Tom Sheehan experienced the worst of it in the TA2 class race on Saturday when his charge up the field was halted.

The 97 was forced to pit early with heavy suspension and body damage. The LTK entry returned to complete the caution marred 100-mile feature race adding an additional pit stop under the next available caution to work on the wounded car. With heavy damage to the Mike Cope Racing TA2 Mustang, the Damon Racing team did incredibly well in the circumstances to finish the race in the No. 97 LTK Ford Mustang. It's not for nothing that Sheehan was named Ironman of the Series in 2019.

For the race Tom qualified P13 for the 35 car TA2 feature event, made a flying start up to P10 by the end of the first lap. After being rooted on Lap 3, Sheehan patiently worked his way back up to his starting position of P13. It would be Lap 11 while passing two cars on the exit of the final turn when the front straight assault occurred. Thereafter all chances of a solid finish was gone.

It was a bitter blow for the Granite State Damon Racing team, but Tom and his crew are nothing if not tough and will be looking to put things right at Lime Rock Park when the Trans Am roadshow reassembles at the end of the month. #GoLTK
