Gibbs, Heim Join Mike Cope Racing for ProAm at Charlotte

Trans Am Returns to Charlotte Roval after a few Decades Long Break

Clearwater, FL (March 18, 2021) — A field of talented, young NASCAR talent will take the green flag on Sunday for the Trans Am Pro Am at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. It has been 21 years since the Trans Am series visited the roval, longer than most of these competitors have been on this Earth. Mike Cope Racing will bring with them two young guns, Ty Gibbs and Corey Heim, who have already familiarized themselves with victory lane early on in this 2021 racing season.

Ty Gibbs is familiar with the #26 Cope Race Cars house car. He has muscled this TA2 machine around familiar road courses several times throughout the past two seasons. Coming home with a career best TA2 finish of P5 at Road Atlanta in 2019. He will be one to watch and a force to be reckoned with especially coming off his Daytona Roval victory in his XFINITY debut. Look for Gibbs to be up front and fighting for the top of the podium.

Corey Heim is making his debut with Mike Cope Racing but is far from a rookie. Heim took the victory at the ARCA season opener at Daytona and came home 2nd to Ty Gibbs just last week at Phoenix in the ARCA division.

From competitors to teammates, keep an eye on these two as they try to make it two in a row with a one/ two finish. The real question is… which one will take the top podium spot? You will have to tune in and see.

Mike Cope, Owner and President of Mike Cope Racing, shared a few words about his thoughts going into the Charlotte weekend.

“We are excited to have Ty back in a car this season. He is a great young man to work with and a force to win in whatever he sits in… case in point, his win on the road course at Daytona! Having Corey in one of our cars for the first time is equally as exciting.” explained Cope. “We have, arguably, two of the biggest names on the up and comer list heading to NASCARs highest level. It is an honor to have them choose our program to help hone their road racing skills.”

The ProAm Round 1 weekend is underway! Load in is scheduled for March 18th with a test day March 19th, practice and qualifying on March 20th and The Trans Am presented by Pirelli ProAm Challenge main event is March 21st at 11:15am EST.
