Silver Hare Two-Steps Into Victory Lane in Texas

Taking on the 20-turn road course designed for Formula One, Circuit of the Americas (COTA), both Maurice and Rafa earn wins in The Trans Am series presented by Pirelli TA2 championship

On his first trip to the Austin road course in a few years, Maurice Hull faced a steep learning curve with COTA being one of the most challenging tracks on the schedule. The speed of the Waukegan Farms - Silver Hare Camaros was evident early however, when in Friday practice Rafa Matos began laying down laps a full two seconds faster than the competition.

Saturday afternoon brought gorgeous weather for qualifying runs in the south Texas sun. Continuing a top-3 qualifying streak in 2020 for the first year two-car team, Rafa put the #7 Camaro p3, while Maurice lined up the #57 p2 in Masters.

When the green flag flew, Rafa jumped alongside the leader and battled his way into the lead exiting turn one. Just a few laps later the safety car would be called out for a full course caution, and not for the first time. Following the second restart, Rafa immediately opened up a two second gap over second place, setting the fastest lap of the race. While Rafa was cruising away at the front, Maurice made his move into the lead in Masters and never looked back.

The Silver Hare family showcased their dedication, talent, and integrity in Austin surviving multiple restarts to take home double victories...putting a big smile on team owner Laura Hull.
