Munroe Falls, Ohio – Round 8 of the Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli Watkins Glen ended early for Amy Ruman and the No. 23 McNichols Co. team when she encountered mechanical issues shortly into the first lap of the race.
Ruman qualified 7th during qualifying on Saturday, with confidence of moving up during Sunday’s race, but unfortunately her race was cut very short.
“We felt good on the start, went around, had some mechanical issues that I didn’t think would clear up, so I decided to park it early to save what I could,” Ruman said. “We made some adjustments from qualifying that I thought would have worked in the right direction, but unfortunately I didn’t have a lot of time to test them out. Regrettably, we lost crucial points at this critical time in the season with only three remaining races.”
Ruman remains solidly in third place following the Watkins Glen race. Standings after Round 8 – Ernie Francis Jr. takes over the lead in the TA class with 231 points moving Chris Dyson into second place with 215, Amy Ruman remains in third – 170, Kerry Hitt in fourth – 138, and Simon Gregg in fifth place – 135 points.
