Sheehan and LTK Next Stop Round 2 as TA2 Makes Way to Georgia

BOW, NH. – March 28, 2019 - TA2 is undoubtedly one of the most competitive formulas in all North American motorsports and this weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will be no different. No fewer than 31 cars – one more than the first race of the calendar in Sebring - will be lining up for another stacked grid and Round 2 of the 2019 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship. New Hampshire native Tom Sheehan will be behind-the-wheel of the No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Damon Racing Ford Mustang for only the second time in competition, the Granite State team having switched from running a Chevrolet Camaro to a Mike Cope Racing Ford platform for the 2019 season.

The first weekend of racing at Sebring in Florida at the beginning of the month promised much with Sheehan, in the glowing yellow car, fairly charging through the field before a rival competitor caused a minor shunt and unfairly put down the No. 97 in the finishing order. Understandably, the mid-race speed shown by Sheehan at Sebring means confidence remains high ahead of this weekend and the team have been extremely busy in the intervening weeks preparing for the weekend’s action. Speaking ahead of the race at Atlanta, Sheehan struck an optimistic note that reflected the hard work going on behind the scenes.

"Damon Racing has been on task for the weeks following the opener,” stated Tom Sheehan, driver of Damon Racing No. 97 Ford Mustang. “Having the car back at the shop has been a great opportunity to learn and develop our new package.”

Looking forward to racing at one of his preferred tracks, Sheehan added, “Personally, I love [Michelin] Road Atlanta. It’s one of my favorite tracks, and I’m always happy to make the trip. Jamie and I have a lot of confidence going into the event. The team is ready for another crack at our new package, it can’t come soon enough. Mike Cope support has been key, we are ready to go. It’s going to be another tight field of cars, TA-2 is sure to excite the ATL, I am working hard staying focused on what I need to do, Road Atlanta is a great next step for the team.”

Newly renamed following a deal between IMSA Holdings and the tire giant, Round 2 of the 2019 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship opens the 2019 spectator season at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Green flag for the TA2 Powered by AEM Infinity Race has the premier slot of 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, reflecting the huge spectator interest in the series. However, while most of the weekend is predicted to be warm and sunny, Sheehan and the rest of the TA2 field could well be racing on a wet and slippery track - with a band of rain forecast to hit the area Sunday morning.
