Trans Am Series TA, TA3 and TA4 Qualifying Sessions at COTA Canceled

Time and light constraints see Series opt for unofficial practice

AUSTIN, Texas.  [November 3, 2018] - Officials for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli opted to change this afternoon’s planned qualifying sessions to a single unofficial practice for all classes following a near hour-long delay in the event’s schedule due to track cleanup from other sessions.

Officials cited the inability to provide a fair and appropriate period of time for all competitors to qualify, safety concerns due to impending sunset, and an uncertain session start time as factors in their decision.

The grid for tomorrow’s multi-class Trans Am 100 will be set by times from the weekend’s official practice session held earlier in the day as per the Trans Am Rule Book, TARB Article 6.2.8.  Points will not be awarded for starting position.

The Trans Am 100 will be held tomorrow at 11:15 AM CT.

Trans Am features on the Circuit of The Americas weekend alongside the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association holding the US Vintage Racing National Championship.

Fans can keep up with the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli throughout the event at www.gotransam.com, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/gotransam and on Twitter at @gotransam.
