Lawrence Loshak tops TA in second Road America practice

Jason Daskalos continues TA3 dominance; qualifying sessions this afternoon

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. [August 24, 2018] –  With the Ryan Companies Road America Classic weekend in full swing the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s TA, TA3 and TA4 classes took to the 4.028-mile course for their second practice session with Shorewood, Wisconsin’s own Lawrence Loshak leading the way.

Loshak and the Burtin Racing prepped No. 2 Pennzoil/ ETE/ GoShare Chevrolet Camaro would top the TA class with a 2:04.590, his fifth lap of the session—well over a second faster than the nearest competitor, Chris Dyson, in the No. 20 Plaid Crafts Ford Mustang, who turned a 2:06.242.

Loshak enters the weekend second in the championship points and on the back of a streak of three podium finishes over his last four races, including his first career TA class victory at Pittsburgh International Race Complex two rounds ago.

Following Loshak and Dyson in the session was Paul Fix, in the No. 50 StopFlex/ The Car Coach Ford Mustang, with a 2:06.281, just under four hundredths behind Dyson’s mark.

2002 Trans Am Road America victor Boris Said, in the No. 21 Monster Energy/ Weaver Racing Dodge Challenger, was fourth quick in the TA class with a time of 2:06.833, while three-time race winner Cliff Ebben, in the No. 36 Stumpf Ford/ McMahon Group Ford Mustang, completed the class top ten with a time of 2:07.180.

Also featuring in the session’s TA class top ten were, in order: David Pintaric, Tomy Drissi, Dave Ruehlow, Simon Gregg and Greg Pickett.

Also making preparations for the 101.2-mile, 25-lap Ryan Companies Road America Classic race was Trans Am’s TA3 class with 2017 race winner Jason Daskalos, in the No. 27 Daskalos Racing Dodge Viper, setting the class’ fast lap: a 2:16.633.

Road America marks Daskalos’ Trans Am debut for the 2018 season.  In addition to his 2017 Road America victory, Daskalos also captured a TA3 win at Circuit of The Americas in 2017; together the victories mark his only previous Trans Am starts.

Completing the Dodge Viper sweep of the TA3 class’ top three were the Lux Performance duo of Cindi Lux, in the No. 45 Lux Performance Group Dodge Viper, and Dirk Leuenberger, in the No. 35 Lux Performance Group Dodge Viper.  Lux, fresh off a Pittsburgh International Race Complex victory two rounds ago, would turn a 2:18.418 while Leuenberger would log a 2:18.559 lap of his own.

Trans Am, and TA3, debutant Brady Fefenning, in the No. 04 LSI/ Sam Pierce Chevy/ FAST Chevrolet Corvette, and Marko Radisic, in the No. 22 Precision Driving BMW M4, would complete the TA3 top five with times of 2:19.502 and 2:20.194, respectively.

Warren Dexter, the sole representative of the TA4 class, would turn a 2:20.742 lap.

Trans Am’s TA2 class held an early second practice session of their own, in preparation for the Ryan Companies Muscle Car Challenge, with Ty Majeski setting the fast time.

All of Trans Am’s classes will be in action later today, holding qualifying for their respective races with sessions commencing at 4:10 PM CDT.
