Andretti ready for Lime Rock double, TA class debut
May 19, 2015

(Team Release) - Round 4 of the 2015 Trans Am 3 Dimensional Service Group Championship at Lime Rock will be a first for Adam Andretti. When points leader Amy Ruman and defending champion Doug Peterson take their places on the TA class grid, Andretti plans on joining them for his TA class Trans Am debut.
The ECC Motorsports driver will be the first to race in both TA and TA2 class races on the same weekend. He will pilot is #44 Engineered Components Company Ford Mustang in the TA2 race. After finishing 2nd in the points standings in 2014, He sits 3rd in the points after three races this season. Then he will step out of the TA2 car and for the first time into a TA car, the #47 Engineered Components Company Chevy Corvette.
"I am over the moon to have this opportunity!", said Andretti. "Just to be competing in Trans Am is a dream come true and now to get a chance to do double duty in TA and TA2 at Lime Rock is very hard for me to put into words how good this feels."
Doing the double was part of the plan for 2015, but doing at Lime Rock is a change. "Our plan was to do the double at Mid Ohio. Now we can use Lime Rock as a test." said ECC Motorsports team owner A.J. Henriksen. "We are using the 310 small engine package and this is a chance for us to try it out."
ECC Motorsports heads into this new adventure on the heels of successful round 3 at Road Atlanta. Andretti for the first time race a Ford Mustang in TA2. The new car was fast out of the gate. He won the pole. He then lead the early laps of the race and scored a new track record. Andretti scored three race wins in 2014 and the chance was there to win his first race of 2015. Unfortunately the handling on the #44 car started to slip away and with that the chance to win.
"The first part of the race we had the pace to finish with weekend in dominant fashion. At about the halfway point we started to lose rear lateral grip and that dramatically lowered our pace." Andretti said. We salvaged a good fourth place finish and it turned out to be a great points day for us."
Meanwhile, Henriksen was running the ECC second TA2 entry. A.J. qualified 18th but systematically worked his way thru the field for a 7th place finish. "We started 18th but it was really worse than that. I got myself in a place that I shouldn't have been and had some contact with (Bob) Stretch. That dropped me back to 22nd." commented Henriksen. "We started picking them off one at a time. We problably had a 10th place car, but a couple of guys ahead had problems and we ended up 7th."
That gave ECC two top 10 finishes. The Next Dimension 100 at Lime Rock is Saturday May 23rd. The 3Dimensional Muscle Car Challenge for TA2 is scheduled to take the green flag at 1:00 pm. The Next Dimension 100 for TA and TA3 cars will start 3:15. Fast 5 Qualifying for both races will be Friday afternoon. Live Time and Scoring is available at GoTransAm.com.
