3Dimensional.com Driver’s Spotlight: Ernie Francis, Jr.

Behind the wheel of the No. 9 Breathless Performance Chevrolet Camaro you will find an exceptional talent and the current TA3 American Muscle points leader. When you take into the consideration the age of that talent, a mere 16 years old, you realize that you might be bearing witness to one of the future stars of American road racing.

Ernie Francis, Jr., of Davie, Florida, has taken the American Muscle Group by storm, coming onto the scene at Daytona International Speedway for last year’s finale, finishing second and setting the fast lap of the race, a prelude of sorts as to what was to come.

This season, the 2014 Trans Am Championship, Francis leads the American Muscle Group with three victories, coming at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Road America and Mid-Ohio, while reaching the podium at but one of the seven races he has entered so far this year. His results have culminated in 213 points for the 16-year-old sensation, a 17-point lead in the Championship hunt and a 32-point buffer in the race for rookie of the year.

Francis will take his talents to the track once more at Lime Rock Park, as part of Round 9 of the Trans Am Championship on September 20th as he continues his ongoing pursuit of end-of-the-year silverware—silverware that would make him the youngest Champion in Trans Am history.
