3-Dimensional Services Driver’s Spotlight: Simon Gregg

The Gregg name is as much a part of the Trans Am legacy as any. Simon Gregg’s father, Peter Gregg, is one of the outright Trans Am legends, and rightfully so.

Peter won the Trans Am Championship in 1973 and 1974 and finished his Trans Am career with 22 wins in 54 starts, finishing outside the top ten in only eight races. He ranks sixth on the list of all-time Trans Am race winners.

But now, Simon Gregg, in the No. 59 Derhaag Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette, is making a name for himself as well.

Currently eighth on the list of all time Trans Am starters with 119 race starts, Simon Gregg has followed in his father’s footsteps in Trans Am, a journey that culminated in Simon being crowned Trans Am Champion in 2012. The Championship capped of a remarkable season for Gregg consisting of a run of nine podium placements in ten races—including his first ever Trans Am win at Mid-Ohio on his 100th Trans Am start.

Better still, Simon joined his father as the first father-son duo to ever both be Trans Am Champions, bringing father and son together as they were engrained into the Trans Am history books.

Keep up with Simon Gregg on his Facebook page throughout the Trans Am Season and as he prepares to join the rest of the Trans Am field at the 100 Miles of Luna-C at Road Atlanta on Saturday, May 10th.
