10 Days of Champions - Danny Lowry: XGT National Championship

For the second year in a row, Danny Lowry has secured the XGT National Championship in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli. This year, the pilot of the No. 42 Bennett/BridgeHaul/Pitboxes.com Mercedes MG GT3 captured two victories and six podium finishes en route to his second-consecutive title.

Lowry started off the 2024 season in GYM WEED Winners Circle, winning the season-opening race at Sebring International Raceway. He then backed up that victory with a win in the following round at Road Atlanta.

“That was a lot of fun,” said Lowry on the podium at Road Atlanta. “I knew it was going to be a tight race, because this is Shannon [Herford]'s home track, my home track, and Ricky Sanders' home track. We started the race and Shannon was much faster than I was from Turn 1 through Turn 3, down through the esses. He put pressure on me. I pushed it a little bit too hard through the top of the hill, and I spun the car and let Shannon get away from me. Luckily, we had the yellow, which allowed me to catch back up. I worked with some traffic and put some pressure on, and everything turned my way. It was fantastic running with these guys. I had a lot of fun today. I'd like to thank my Bennett family that's here for the Bennett/BridgeHaul Classic. Thank you to Tyler Hoffman for putting the strategy out there that helped us out, and Jason Howell, who gave me a good car today. Thanks, guys.”

After his back-to-back victories, Lowry was consistently on the podium in his remaining four starts, earning second-place finishes at Lime Rock Park, Road America, Watkins Glen and in his final event of the season at VIRginia International Raceway.

“It is always an honor to drive in the renowned Trans Am Series,” said Lowry. “There was a time that I never thought that I would be capable of running in Trans Am, let alone winning races. Trans Am is a well-run series that always gives us a chance to compete on some of the most iconic tracks around the country. The opportunity to be part of such a prestigious and competitive series is truly remarkable.”

“My story is one that should encourage all club racers to come into Trans Am and have some fun racing, along with a few wins,” Lowry continued. “I am grateful to my incredible team and our dedicated sponsors, including Bennett Family of Companies, BridgeHaul, and Pitboxes.com, who have supported us throughout this journey. Their hard work, commitment, and belief in our vision have been instrumental in our success. Special thanks to our driver coach, Tyler Hoffman, and our car chief, Jason Howe, who played crucial roles in our achievement. Winning the championship again is a testament to the relentless effort, passion, and teamwork that everyone involved has put into this season. It's not just a personal achievement, but a collective victory for all of us. Thank you once again for giving us the platform to showcase our talents and for your continuous support. I look forward to sharing more championship moments with the Trans Am family in the future.”
