Sam Pierce Racing
Indianapolis-based Sam Pierce Racing has fielded event and championship winning race cars over four decades in Trans Am, USAC Silver Crown, winged and non-wing Sprint Cars, Midget Cars, Legend Cars, Late Model stock cars and NHRA drag cars.
The team currently fields two Trans Am TA2 Sam Pierce Chevrolet / LSI Racing / AP Driver Development Chevy Camaros. Through its affiliation with LSI Racing SPR also fields two Trans Am LSI Racing / Sam Pierce Chevrolet / AP Driver Development Chevy Corvettes.
The team has many accomplishments including a Trans Am SGT class win at Watkins Glen International in 2019 with primary driver Aaron Pierce.
Pierce is a three-time USAC Silver Crown Series winner (Darlington, Kansas and Chicagoland). He was 2003 Rookie of the Year and holds the all-time speed record of 174mph set at Kansas International Speedway in 2006. AP is one of only 2 drivers to win a USAC Silver Crown race at the fabled Darlington Raceway - the other is A.J. Foyt.
Aaron won 12 races and two championship titles with the Auto Value Super Sprint Car Series. He won the first Sprint Car race that he ever entered in the Mike Blake #81 at Anderson (IN) Speedway where he now has six Glen Neibel Classic wins, a USAC national Sprint Car win and multiple Little 500 podium finishes and pole positions over 19 years – including the current one and four lap track records set in 2011.
AP has three wins and multiple podiums in the CRA Late Model Series and was Rookie of the Year in 2008. He won the 2001 NAMARS MidgetCar Triple Crown Championship and Rookie of the Year in 2000.
Aaron was an Advanced Road Racing Instructor at the Bob Bonduraunt School from 2004-09 and recently launched the AP Driver Development program. The firm was formed primarily to aid aspiring race car drivers in their transition to professional motorsports. The company will leverage Sam Pierce Racing’s extensive race car inventory including a fleet of Trans Am TA2 Chevy Camaros and SGT Corvettes, dirt and pavement USAC Silver Crown, Sprint Car and MidgetCars, NHRA Factory Stock COPO Camaros, Junior dragsters and professional level go carts.
The company’s experienced staff is adept at the art of race craft on any surface or track configuration in virtually any type of race car. Additional skillsets including public speaking, media appearances, sponsor relations as well as race car mechanics, setup and fabrication can also be honed. It will be interesting to observe which future notables and superstars utilize this program to develop their race craft through Trans Am and beyond.
