Northshore Group

Team Owner, Driver and Oberlin, OH native, Larry Funk, completed driver’s school in 1974 and never looked back. Funk finished 9th in the Firehawk Pro Series at Sebring in 1991. Then, in 1992, Funk captured 5th place at the SCCA World Challenge race as part of the Budweiser Grand Prix of Cleveland. In 2001, Funk placed 4th in the Grand Am race at Trois Rivieres, Canada. After participating in numerous SCCA National Races and Championships until 2013, Funk got the itch to get back into SCCA Pro Racing.
In February 2014, Funk ran the BMW E46 M3 in the World Challenge Series. During a soggy World Challenge Race at Mid Ohio, Funk received the Sunoco Hard Charger after starting 21st and finishing 8th. With the long history of the Trans Am Series combined with being a Mark Donohue fan, Funk decided the SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am Series was a great opportunity to continue the racing heritage of the BMW E46 M3.
The Northshore Group Racing Team consists of racing engineers, John Block and Buddy Fey in addition to crew chief, Matt Buckley and crew member, Pat Loflin. Shirley Hull of Business Advisory Services is the Team’s sponsor in addition to coordinating the public relations and marketing.
