Berkeley back on top at VIR

September 30, 2014 - Alton, Virginia - Jason Berkeley and the BMG Management Berkeley Motorsports team battled back from a trouble plagued weekend to claim their second straight win and third win of the season at Virginia International Raceway in the penultimate round of the Trans Am Series TA3I class. The win puts Berkeley atop the season championship points standings heading into the final event of the Trans Am season at Daytona International Speedway.

'This win really belongs to my guys' Berkeley said. 'We have never been to VIR, and after only one practice session, we managed to complete only three laps before the race. We had gearbox driveshaft, and electronics issues which kept the crew up late at night, and they really fought hard to get me a great car for the race.'

Starting from last position on the grid, Berkeley quickly moved through the field to find himself in second position in class, behind Russ Snow. Snow, who considers VIR his home track, had pulled out ‎a gap on Berkeley as he was making his way through the field.

'By the time the gap had stabilized, we were surprised to see Russ' car up ahead smoking. I passed Russ, who subsequently pitted, and never looked back.'

The win puts Berkeley in the Trans Am series TA3I points lead over the two other championship contenders Norm Betts and Russ Snow.

The iconic Trans Am series season concludes Saturday November 15th at Daytona International Speedway, where the season champions will be crowned.
