Ty Majeski tops TA2 Practice 2 at Road America

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. [August 24, 2018] – Ty Majeski would set the fast lap as the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s TA2 class took to the Road America circuit this morning for their second practice session of the weekend in preparation for tomorrow’s Ryan Companies Road America Classic.

The event marks Majeski’s TA2 debut in the No. 00 Newman Wachs Racing Ford Mustang, as the NASCAR Xfinity driver joins Trans Am in search of additional road course experience.  So far so good for Majeski and the Newman Wachs outfit with the No. 00 pacing the field with a 2:13.641, the fastest of the session.

Second quick in the session was championship challenger Tony Buffomante, in the No. 34 Mike Cope Racing Ford Mustang, turning yet another quick lap at Road America, this time to the tune of 2:13.727.  Buffomante’s time of 2:13.272 in yesterday’s practice session remains the fastest of the weekend in the TA2 class.

Following Buffomante on the practice charts were a duo of his Mike Cope Racing teammates with Matt Tifft, in the No. 26 Mike Cope Racing Ford Mustang, and Keith Prociuk, currently fourth in the points in the No. 9 HP Tuners Chevrolet Camaro, third and fourth quick with times of 2:13.899 and 2:14.401, respectively.

Fifth quick in the session was Dillon Machavern, in the No. 77 Berryman/ Prefix Ford Mustang, continuing his return to Trans Am action with a 2:14.407 lap.

The TA2 top ten also included, in order, Scott Lagasse, Jr., Tyler Reddick. John Atwell, Misha Goikhberg and Jordan Bupp.

The session, originally slated for 30 minutes, was cut roughly six minutes short after the No. 50 BrakeOMeter/Orion Ford Mustang contacted the tire wall before turn 14, leaving the tire wall in need of repairs.

The TA2 class will return to the track at 4:10 PM CDT for qualifying while Trans Am’s TA, TA3 and TA4 classes take to the Road America circuit at 10:45 CDT for a second practice session of their own in preparation for the Ryan Companies Road America Classic.  Both races are slated for 101.2 miles, 25 laps around the 14-turn 4.028-mile Road America circuit.

Both the Ryan Companies Road America Classic and Muscle Car Challenge will be live streamed on Motor Trend On Demand, while the weekend will be showcased on CBS Sports network on a one-hour highlights show on tape-delay.

Trans Am is joined on the weekend by NASCAR Xfinity holding the Johnsonville 180 and the Speed Energy Stadium Super Tracks.
